I call myself a Ruby programmer, a Java programmer, a Python programmer and a Scala programmer because I like to programme things in Ruby, Java, Python and Scala. And it is a convenient way to, you know, help people understand that I can't programme in C# or COBOL or Perl or Objective-C or Prolog or Scheme (yet), but I could certainly give it the old college try.
