"mostly acceptable teardrop everyone else standardized on."?
- dpark 8y agoYeah, that's pretty delusional. I don't think anyone has created a phone with a notch that would accurately be characterized as a teardrop shape. The closest was probably Essential (which inexplicably had a notch and a chin). The Pixel 3 notch is a V shape. The OnePlus notch pretty much looks like an iPhone notch. There's no "standard" and certainly no "standard teardrop shape".
- metafizikal 8y agoWhat if I have really weirdly shaped tears?
- screye 8y agoI don't blame you. The one plus 6T released yesterday with the teardrop notch. It is trend among chinese phones (Huawei,Oppo, Vivo, OP ..basically BBK electronics) OP 6T is the first phone popular in the west with this style, and I find it to be amazing. Still like the MiMix 3 the most, with no notch. But, the OP 6T is the first one that's not egregious.
- lozf 8y agoLooks more like a "condensation drip about to fall" than a tear drop... Not very catchy though, perhaps "innovative CDATF notch - uses 66% less screen space" would sound hype enough for the Marketing department?
- tromp 8y agofar from everyone, but prominent examples are the OnePlus 6T and the Huawei Mate-20: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/r_LNpJOd0ao/maxresdefault.jpg https://i.ytimg.com/vi/r_LNpJOd0ao/maxresdefault.jpg
- dpark 8y agoThat's not a "teardrop". Are people actually calling it that? Also, two phones does not make a standard. Even the Mate 20 Pro has an iPhone-style notch.
- tromp 8y agoBoth have the slanted sides that I think "passes for" teardrop shaped, although it's clearly more slanted on the OnePlus. And indeed I was referring to the Mate 20 and Mate 20X rather than the Pro.
