I think Facebook is juicing their DAU metrics by gaming people with "friend suggestion" notifications. My usage is way down and I barely check it, maybe once in a couple weeks, but after I check it I get a sudden uptick in notifications. Mostly "friend suggestions". There's nothing new about them. In many cases they've suggested them before. But it seems like they just want to slide into my notifications and keep that red badge lit up and just trigger me to open up the app. But not too much.. after I ignore it for awhile they die down, probably so I don't uninstall entirely. Then the cycle repeats a couple weeks later. And I could be wrong but it looks like they removed the ability to turn off friend suggestion notifications. You can turn just about everything else off but not that one. Hmmmm...
