I think it's more accurate to say light is not only a device we charge up and carry around in our pockets. I do in fact always carry a flashlight in my pocket and use it fairly regularly and many people use their smartphone as a makeshift flashlight from time to time even if they don't carry a dedicated flashlight. I imagine the extended analogy would likely hold: if Dynamicland type technology becomes common I expect it would co-exist with more traditional computing as well as other newer tech like VR/AR.
