The comments here are far less insightful than I've come to expect from HN. It seems like this article has touched a (several?) nerve.
Can we just get the following out of the way?
1. Sometimes it's good/necessary to offer help to inexperienced colleagues
2. Sometimes that which is called help is actually counter-productive or manipulative
The above are simultaneously true.
