They do have an API Developer Platform (https://developer.gm.com/ https://developer.gm.com/) but you have to apply. For some other car companies, you can use www.smartcar.com.
There are some ISO compliance rules that prevent the remote start function on ICE vehicles (for example: if your car is in an enclosed space, this could be dangerous).
- post_break 8y agoThat's funny because I remote start my truck in my tiny garage every day. Literally 2 feet perimeter around the thing. I couldn't believe it fit.
- Retric 8y agoIf you start it with the garage door closed that quickly becomes incredibly dangerous.
- post_break 8y agoMy truck is a diesel with DEF fluid. Surprisingly you can't smell a thing in there when it's been running for 5 minutes.
- Retric 8y agoThe real risk is CO (carbon monoxide) where CO2 makes you breathless and you notice a problem, CO is odorless and inhibits cognitive functions and you really don’t notice anything before death. PS: DEF only works on NOx compounds.
