If you seriously think BSD has anywhere near the same mind share as Linux then I don't know what to tell you. "Taken over the world" might be hyperbolic if read literally but such slight hyperbole is common in regular English. For example, I might say that Linux is used "everywhere". Of course this isn't true if read extremely literally but my meaning should be clear: you don't have to go far to find something that uses LInux. Websites (and web infrastructure for that matter), smartphones, DVD players, etc.
