And for the record GATTACA is the story of a misguided insufferable asshole violating regulations and probably getting his entire team killed 5 minutes after the movie ends due to his heart condition.
- forapurpose 8y ago> Whoever is higher on the dominance hierarchy gets to subject others to their opinions. That's a bizarre statement in the modern world. In the modern world, we vote on whose opinion carries the day, and that is only in the unusual cases where government has power in the matter (because we have freedom and civil rights).
- radiantswirl 8y agoYou have a shockingly naive view of our government. You think those votes aren't heavily manipulated on both sides? Voting does nothing, our representational democracy means every electoral race is won before it's ever fought. The concept of "Dominance Hierarchies" is fundamentally a superior mental model for understanding the world than the concepts of democracy and voting, which are both just smokescreens to obfuscate the Dominance Hierarchies they are reinforcing. It's just absurd that your naive faith in government prevents you from seeing the obvious fact that people dominate other people. What, you think Elon and Trump act submissive and sheepish towards their followers? Topkek bruh.
- monetus 8y agoOur governments have moved to democratic republics, for the most part, but our workplaces are still generally heirarchies and feudalism. I see what he is saying. I see what your point is though, I think. Even in heirarchies, we are supposed to have freedom. I very much want to experiment with cooperatives, and things like https://pol.is/home https://pol.is/home
- abdulhaq 8y agoSo when the captain of the football team flushes your head down the toilet, you'll be happy to listen to his alpha male opinion of why geeks should know their omega male place?
- Viliam1234 8y agoOnly if you use non sequitur arguments, and the football team captain's name was Albert Einstein.
- radiantswirl 8y agoYes I will be happy to listen to his opinion, shortly before dedicating my life to attaining his enviable position of flusher rather than flushee. Truth ain't hard to swallow when you know just how fucking easy it is to dominate captains of football teams lmao
