The Python library author community sure is getting a lot of mileage out of this 'For Humans' marketing meme
- pletnes 8y agoSome programming communities honor compact notation, optimization of CPU cycles or even compatibility with nonexistent hardware (see Fortran and hole punch cards). Python’s success lies at least partly in its philosophy to make easy to use packages that solve people’s real world problems.
- scrollaway 8y agoThe "For Humans" quip is a design mindset in the Python community that says the API is meant to be intuitive. It's another way of saying "API-first". It might have lost some meaning over time, but when Requests ("HTTP Requests For Humans") first came out, it really was revolutionary, that idea that "making an HTTP request" shouldn't take several unreadable boilerplate lines of code.
- nerdponx 8y agoSeveral (requests, pipenv, maya) are by the same author.
