I agree that perhaps a newer CL standard is called for. On the other hand, there's more to the Lisp family than Common Lisp. The Scheme folks have updated their standard a few times. Maybe it would be nice to see threading, Unicode, coroutines, and some other things put into a standard library with as little change to the core language as possible.
