* Coffee - short Italian espresso (always when out) or Turkish
* Red Bull - too much, a lot less than previously
* Beers - again a lot less alcohol than previously, because I prefer being in a productive mode, but Guinness, London Pride and English Ale (Rose n' Crown in Palo Alto, 21st amendment & Gordon Biersch in SF, The Porterhouse in Covent Garden, London & The Dove in Fulham)
* Scotch - as many different types as I can. Usually a compulsory purchase when going through duty-free at airpots. Macallan, JW, Famous Grouse
- gizmomagico 16y ago"McCallan"? I hope you mean www.themacallan.com, but probably not. Drop JW, Grouse, JB, Chivas etc, and start investigating single malt scotch. It's a whole new world. Try Macallan, Ardbeg, Bowmore.
- bl4k 16y agoOh ye I am definitely into the single malts. Macallan is what I meant :) Thanks for the other recommendations, will have to check them out.
- gizmomagico 16y agoAlright, cool :) Try this: http://www.forpeatsake.com/Ardbeg/Ardbeg+Airigh+Nam+Beist/1 http://www.forpeatsake.com/Ardbeg/Ardbeg+Airigh+Nam+Beist/1
- randallsquared 16y agoI actually had been sticking with Macallan for a while, but went to a JW tasting with friends a few weeks ago, and discovered that I like their Gold about as much as Macallan's single malt.
- gizmomagico 16y agoHave you tried the 18yo sherry cask Macallan? I bet it's better than JW Gold :)
- randallsquared 16y agoAh, quite possibly. I haven't had anything in Macallan but 12 year old. In spite of nearing 40, I only started drinking, really, this year. So I have much study, yet. ;)
- iuguy 16y agoI've tried to cut down my coffee intake with mixed results, but I have a profound weakness for Turkish coffee. That stuff's just amazing.
- spudlyo 16y agoI agree it's quite good, you just have to mind the sludge at the bottom. I also really like Cafe Sua Da, which can be found in Vietnamese restaurants, which is coffee with sweetened condensed milk poured over ice.
- iuguy 16y agoI narrowly missed some Cafe Sua Da yesterday at the Bloomsbury Festival in London. I would've been up for it but had just had a latte. Doh! I'm quite fortunate on the Turkish coffee front, my wife usually makes it on the weekend. If you ever want to scare little kids, suck some of the sludge in through your teeth, spit it back out in the coffee, look at the kid then smile at them. Guaranteed screams and tears :)
