A Turing machine can compute root 2 but it takes an infinite amount of time to do so. A ruler and compass can do it near instantaneously, but it takes forever to measure it.
- comboy 8y agoIt also takes an infinitely precise ruler and other tech which at some level of precision is not in any way more trivial than an infinite amount of time. You can compute as many digits as you want, but when trying to measure it, at some point Heisenberg (or Planck to be more precise) will stop you.
