Apple announces iPad Pro and Mac event for October 30th
- kuhsdhkasdkhuha 8y agoThe switch to USB-C on iPad Pros just doesn't make sense to me. I think it's more likely they keep lightning and then eventually just get rid of ports altogether.
- wodenokoto 8y agoOne way of looking at it is to say that peripherals have lighting, and main devices have USB-C. The iPad pro is wholly a laptop replacement, not a temporary substitute. The iPod was named as a "pod" as it had to dock with the "mothership" to charge and synchronize, and that thinking still seems to be around at Apple. At least I still find it harder to operate my i-devices without occasionally connecting to itunes, than I find using my Android devices without connecting to a computer.
- aikinai 8y agoWhat do you still connect to iTunes for? I think the iDevices have been standalone-first for many years now and if anything iTunes as a hub has been falling behind and losing functionality.
- beerlord 8y agoI think its more likely that they will eventually adopt USB-C completely, and the iPad Pro is a test bed for it. Being able to easily output video to a projector, TV or monitor will be a major feature for many professional iPad users.
- reacharavindh 8y agoIt'd be nice to hook up iPad to a monitor, but without mouse and keyboard support in iOS you can't really do much with that setup than just showing some pre-made presentations...
- ninedays 8y agoIt would be interesting to hear Apple story during the keynote about why they decided to go with USB-C instead of the lightning port we are used to.
- King-Aaron 8y agoAh, slim bezels. As a professional, this is the absolute height of my concerns and I am glad they have addressed this in their 'pro' products. /s
- tonyedgecombe 8y agoI don't think the MacBook Air is aimed at the professional market.
