- jki275 8y agoI suppose I should have said equivalent to a felony, since Canada uses different terms. http://www.canadaduientrylaw.com/felony.php http://www.canadaduientrylaw.com/felony.php
- Harvey-Specter 8y agoWe have summary and indictable offences. A summary offence is more or less a misdemeanor, an indictable offence is basically a felony.
- astrodust 8y agoYes, but the terminology and implications are different. You can have a criminal conviction and still vote, for example.
- maxerickson 8y agoMany US states restore the vote. http://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/felon-voting-rights.aspx http://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/felon-v...
- astrodust 8y ago"Many" but not nearly all. In Canada prisoners can and do vote.
- derefr 8y agoI'm curious—would there be a way to comparatively analyze Canadian and American election results, to figure out whether prisoners' disenfranchisement has an impact on policy?
- maxerickson 8y agoState to state comparisons would probably work better.
