Oh I know Go, just haven't used it for numerical tasks. If Add(x, y) is just as maintainable as x + y, why does Go use operators for the regular numeric types?

Oh I know Go, just haven't used it for numerical tasks. If Add(x, y) is just as maintainable as x + y, why does Go use operators for the regular numeric types? Why have + at all?
