The OpenJDK Community TCK License Agreement (OCTLA)
- j16sdiz 8y agoThat’s what stopped Apache from building a certified java implementation
- hyperman1 8y agoI'm not sure what this means for Apache Harmony. According to https://www.apache.org/jcp/sunopenletterfaq.html https://www.apache.org/jcp/sunopenletterfaq.html , the main issue was a "field of use" restriction. This exact term does not appear in http://openjdk.java.net/legal/OCTLA-JDK9+.pdf http://openjdk.java.net/legal/OCTLA-JDK9+.pdf but section 2.1b still severely limits what you can do with the TCK. You can use the TCK to test your JDK, but I'm not sure if you are allowed to publish the result of these tests. You can't create a JDK from scratch, except licensed as GPL. Wjile IANAL, I don't think this license resolves the Apache Harmony situation
