Yep, take a look at loggly.com - AFAIK, a bunch of ex-Splunk guys. They're building their system on EC2 + SolrCloud.

  This looks great, hopefully Splunk will get some competition. Its a great tool but its far-far-far too expensive for the typical startup team.
