The dig at parking attendants is off the mark, I think Parking attendant is a great job (if you angle it right and get a quiet parking lot, say, long term by the airport).

- wyclif 16y agoI was an overnight security guard for 3 years at a Christian college. Honestly, it was the easiest job I've ever had because there was never any crime, the students were serious about school and very studious, and it was a dry campus. It was easy for me to get overtime, which made the pay tolerable. The first thing I did was make a reading list. I re-read most of the Western Canon and a lot of other non-fiction books I wanted to read. The school also had a computer lab with Macs and even a few Linux boxen, and during the winter when I was snowed in I spent many nights learning PHP, Python, and MySQL. It ended up being one of the most productive learning periods of my life.
