Advising (or hoping) against the accused defending themselves is counter to the justice system western democracies are based on. In a just society, a false accusation intended to harm the accused by piling on social media lynch mobs and the media, should be discouraged. If the accused is indeed innocent, I hope this case serves as a deterrent against false accusations. But if the accused is guilty, hopefully the system unfurls in favor of the accusers.
