One of his anonymous accusers came out publicly in response to this essay. What she details definitely isn't rape, but it does sound like repeated harassment, and she says she has heard from other women who haven't yet come forward.

The author of the linked essay is suing the creator of the Shitty Media Men list claiming defamation. This seems like a poor strategy on his part, as it will get many of those previously anonymous women to detail their interactions with him and while they may not encompass rape or attempted rape either, they are overwhelmingly likely to make him look, well, shitty.

- oh_sigh 8y ago"Of course, in some sense, Donegan didn’t have to worry, because no one is truly innocent. Even if you’re not guilty of the particular crime of which you stand accused, you’re likely to be guilty of something. It’s a Kafkaesque scenario. The accused can either refuse to engage, or try to maintain their specific innocence from a position of more general guilt. Either way, the trial is over before any defense can arrive."
- writepub 8y agoAdvising (or hoping) against the accused defending themselves is counter to the justice system western democracies are based on. In a just society, a false accusation intended to harm the accused by piling on social media lynch mobs and the media, should be discouraged. If the accused is indeed innocent, I hope this case serves as a deterrent against false accusations. But if the accused is guilty, hopefully the system unfurls in favor of the accusers.
- hendersoon 8y agoOf course! If he is innocent of specific allegations, he should defend himself and win. But will specific ones emerge? I based that statement upon Lyzzie Lenz (the twitter link) saying that she heard from many other women about alleged harassment from this guy.

This seems like a poor strategy on his part, He absolutely should sue the creator of this list and whoever accused him of rape. It says so much that people think he shouldn't "because it will look bad".
- dsfyu404ed 8y agoAgreed. If he didn't rape anyone then whatever facts some out in court will be better than being on "the list".
- hendersoon 8y agoPotential outcomes: a) The rape allegations remain unproven. Perhaps he's awarded some damages from the woman who made a huge mistake originally posting the list, which she had acknowledged by immediately taking it down. or b) An alleged rape victim comes forward. Whoops! Best case scenario where he IS innocent, he ends up where he is today, in purgatory. And either way, it seems likely women will come forward claiming various degrees of harassment and he'll look like a dirtbag regardless. Is that a win? Is pursuing it a smart strategy?
