Development Company Equity

Hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to get a consensus opinion about equity for a development company. We're a pre-launch startup and have been approach by a respectable development firm (in Chicago) to help build our MVP. They are open to all compensation arrangements, including an equity arrangement. I would love to hear from the community on a) whether you believe it might make sense and b) what an appropriate percentage might be. Cheers!
