However the article is well-written and very informative. Just need to skip the title :-)
- dang 8y agoOk, I took a crack at replacing the title with a representative sentence from the article. If anyone can suggest a better title, we can change it again. "Better" here means more accurate and neutral, and preferably using representative language from the article.
- kristianp 8y agoWhat about Rust has a static "garbage collector" It reflects Klabnick's thesis here, whereas the current "I don't find writing Rust to be significantly harder..." title is probably more controversial.
- dang 8y agoOk, we'll give that a try.
- steveklabnik 8y agoThis is better than the last one, for sure. Thanks.
- steveklabnik 8y agoThis title does not really reflect the entire point of the piece. The point is automatic memory management; the difficulty thing is tangential.
- dang 8y agoIf you'd like to take a crack at a title that is neither misleading nor linkbait, in accordance with the site guidelines (https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html), we'd be happy to change it again. It's hard for us to guess perfectly every time, but an imperfect guess is usually better than leaving a misleading or baity title up.
- steveklabnik 8y agoI don't feel the original title is misleading at all. But, I also don't think this is a huge deal, given that it's no longer on the front page.
