If that were the case, then Google would be on life support since Orkut, Wave and many other bets that just didn't pan out. The fact of the matter is: Google is by far the best search engine. Google is the only company I'd actually trust to drive me around in a self driving car. Its cloud services are 2X more cost-effective compared to AWS. Google's Android is by far the most popular mobile OS in the US. Google is growing like crazy both in terms of employees and in terms of stock. Who even cares about Google+ ?
