The road to hell is paved with good intentions they say. I have no doubt the proponents of modern affirmative action have such good intentions, but the act of giving someone an advantage for their ethnicity is, in my eyes, just as discriminatory as giving them a disadvantage.
Basically saying that the hispanic and black population need a leg up to compete with the white and asian side nowadays is ludicrous. They are just normal people, not any worse or better than anyone else. Let their achievements speak for themselves and stop cheapening them with attempts to "help".
- JoeAltmaier 8y agoThat can quickly turn into sophistry, an excuse to do nothing to help correct systemic bias. Easy to say when we have no problem ourselves.
- jeffdavis 8y ago"we have no problem ourselves" By "we", I assume you mean "white people". That groups together a wide range of people with different experiences and histories.
