If you're curious, I used google app engine and google recently changed the build tools for go on app engine. I have a lot of go source code examples on my blog which aren't intended to be compiled by app engine, but with the recent changes I couldn't get it to deploy. After a couple of hours I decided I was fed up and tried k8s. Its a bit silly, but sadly that's often how software goes, at least in my experience. (also strictly speaking I couldn't do a static site cause there are some other things I run on here that are more than just html) I fixed the copyright date :)
