WebAssembly doesn't really provide any more protection than just highly-obfuscated/minimized JavaScript.

  That depend on how dynamic the site is. If your site is implemented on Canvas and doesn't even allow text selection, copying the site to make a competitor would be harder, as would scraping price/inventory lists, or any sort of scraping. That's both the selling point and the problem.
