Companies like Amazon have been working on tooling for their services for literal decades, most companies have some half-assed attempts at tooling and don't understand why that's a problem. Consider deployment, for example, how do you know what's deployed at any given time? Well, the answer is usually something along the lines of "oh, that's just the head revision of all of the relevant repos/branches". And what about the staging and dev environments?
