It'd be interesting to see if 18.04 works better for you.
I've kinda got the opposite experience to you - I'm using the 9350 and Windows constantly BSODs due to some problem with the wifi card drivers (Broadcom). Ubuntu's working fine for me, but I'll be replacing the wifi card with an Intel one and hoping there isn't a BIOS whitelist.
