There is no alternative to farm and transport food at the scale required for the modern population. Banning CFCs isn't even comparable because all of modern civilization wasn't built on them like it has been with the portable energy enabled by ICE. There is no viable electric-only solution for the freight rail network, the air freight network, or even the road freight network.
