I liked SF and Oakland when I lived there, but I moved to NYC and don't really want to move back. And that makes me take the comment about whether the tech industry should be in the bay area fairly seriously. I work for a Big Tech company, and our org, which has highly visible products and exciting work, is struggling to hire people in the bay area. People don't want to move there, and there is huge competition for the people already there, including from other internal teams, so we're expanding more at other sites.
