Applications to expensive universities, in general, will probably decline over time as the primary reason for attending these schools were the value of the network more than the actual education (it was still great but it's been more and more commoditized) and it seems like a strong network can be created in so many other ways now. Still there are going to be people who will send their kids to expensive schools but the value is going to diminish over time I think.
