You do not see the point in the article?
Products never start with $1M revenue. It is a certain bar. And to be honest it is hard. In the article we share our experience, what decisions we made, what worked for us etc.
I think that for many entrepreneurs it might be useful.
- kown223 8y agoprobably works in Belarus where you pay people peanuts, and everything is cheap, also lots of lots of people lie about revenue to get attention.
- evermike 8y agoI can not agree. Salary of an engineer here is $3000-4000 per month (after tax calculation). Still less than in USA, but I can not call it a trifle. As for our revenue, I told the truth. If you do not believe it, well, I will not persuade you. I think a knowledgeable person can check math. BTW, in the article I attached a screenshot from our analytics platform (ProfitWell). What caused your distrust?
- democracy 8y agocase of the mondays?
- jotm 8y agoI can't see the original comment, but you mean $3000/month in Belarus?
- evermike 8y agoYes, it's the programmer's salary here. Of course this is not the starting point, it's a senior level salary, but this is not the upper limit.
- cpursley 8y agoI don't think folks realize how cheap Eastern Europe is and how low non-tech salaries are here. I imagine $3/4k goes a long way in Belarus. For example, where I am in Russia, my entire rent + utilities are less than just my utilities were in the US. Ukraine and Belarus are even cheaper. Also, random side note - there are many "продукты из белоруссии" (Belarussian food product stores) in Russia with even lower prices than local goods. They have a bit of a Soviet feel including grumpy women in funny hats behind the counter, but have very cheap beer and sausage (колбаса).
- ddalex 8y agoKudos on reaching this far, and disregard naysayers that abound on HN.
- evermike 8y ago100% agree. I have friends (other founders) here in Belarus and abroad. Many of them did same mistakes. Sharing experience is very important.
- cstrat 8y agoCongrats on the achievement! You've clearly had to deal with people like kown223 along the way and it doesn't phase you. Great to see and hear about success stories which seem achievable for anyone with a great idea and the ability to execute. Cheers
- evermike 8y agoThanks for kind words. It is very motivating. Indeed, not a rocket science. Just do your best, talk to your customers, make their life easier. Although sometimes it was very difficult mentally). I like to say that if you want to earn a billion, you need to innovate. If you want to earn a million, take an existing problem and improve.
