I saw Scottsdale, Arizona mentioned and straightaway remembered that GoDaddy is based there. Coincidence? Edit: actually, answering my own question -- when a domain is reg'd at GoDaddy and privacy is enabled, it's then "owned" (in the whois sense) by DomainsByProxy at GoDaddy.
