The politburo seems to play favorites with capitalism when there is rapid economic and military expansion. It'd be interesting to see how that sentiment changes/changed in a recession.
- hnzix 8y agoSpecial economic zones like Shenzhen (Silicon Valleys) vs rural dirt farmers. It's a command and control capitalist system, a weird inversion of the free market economy. A different lens to view this through is Deng Xiaoping used SEZ to subvert Mao's communist model and steer it back towards capitalism. "It doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice." Deng endured severe personal suffering to deliver his vision. Unfortunately Xi is rewinding much of Deng's progress.
