From strictly a UX standpoint, I recently found Virgin's website to be fantastic to use-- very clear hierarchy, nice fonts and colors, and a unique approach to form error handling-- the text of the submit button itself would change to tell you what fields still needed to be filled in. No idea what their backend looks like though.
