If you roll your own, you can and will easily spend years building it instead of focusing on your core product. Just building out interaction recording to collect data can be time consuming in and of itself. We use commercial solutions to collect and report on analytics and are very happy with them, but I’d suggest at least going with a robust and feature rich existing off the shelf open source package.
