I love namecheap - customer for over 10 years - but a recent incident has me rethinking my patronage.
We recently received a "lawyer DDOS" - where a law firm sent multiple letters claiming /alleged/ trademark infringement. Without proof of identity, proof of subpoena, judge's order - whatever - namecheap rolled over on their WHOIS protection.
There was no dialog, no email from legal, nothing.
I was dismayed to see that someone can literally send one email, get your personal info, and impact your company.
Very disappointed in namecheap.

- highclass 8y agoRead my comments too. Namecheap definitely is just as bad.
- ethanwillis 8y agoEXACTLY what happened to me just a few months ago. Looks like they do this to everyone... Maybe we should all get together because individually there's not much that can be done legally. Edit: by exactly, I mean they got a subpoena for someone else, didn't respond to it correctly.. and just dumped all of my information to a bunch of third parties.
