HN title seems misleading. I read it as ITER has achieved first fusion, when in fact the news is a revised plan.

- saagarjha 8y ago> first fusion We already have fusion. We just don't have fusion that sustains itself. Unless this is a specific term that I'm not understanding?
- foobarbecue 8y agoNo fusion yet at ITER. They've only just started building it.
- ikeyany 8y agoI think they mean 'first plasma' which is the name for when a reactor generates a plasma for the first time.
- tempay 8y agoIt hasn't, construction has only just began of the main components and ITER should produce it's first plasma in 2025.[1] [1] https://www.iter.org/proj/itermilestones#135 https://www.iter.org/proj/itermilestones#135
