I had saved nearly $1,000,000 from salary (plus subsequent investment returns) over the years. But I didn't think that's what the question was asking. I have never worked in the Bay Area. Or anywhere on the West Coast for that matter. And most of my career has been outside of the US by this point (including the successful exit).
