This is a blast from the past. The assembly programming homework assignments in my undergrad computer architecture class had to be written to run in this simulator.
- decko 8y agoI tried the compilers course on Coursera a few years back and that was used there as well. Probably still is
- wolfgke 8y agoThe compilers source of Stanford university (on Coursera and now Lagunita) uses a fork of SPIM that seems not to care about subtle parts of MIPS such as the delay slot.
- jacobmischka 8y agoYeah my Master's compilers class last semester still used it as well, so I imagine it is.
- x0 8y agoI'm doing SPIM in Computer Organisation at uni at the moment.
- jorfde 8y agoSame here
- tatoalo 8y agoSame, I’ve done it last year. SPIM was so annoying to work with that I decided to develop with MARS and then before handing it to the professor trying to see if it had any issues running with the SPIM simulator.
- saagarjha 8y agoInteresgly, I did the same actually I hated SPIM so much I spent a substantial amount of time tweaking MARS to work better on my computer: https://github.com/saagarjha/MARS/ https://github.com/saagarjha/MARS/
- trollied 8y agoUsed it in one of my CS courses back in 1996. Did ARM assembly too - little did I know just how prevalent ARM CPUs would become. It's amazing.
- andrewnicolalde 8y agoHah! I’m working on my undergrad right now and it’s still being used!
- gaius 8y agoThis is a blast from the past Sourceforge too, the only thing more retro was if this was posted on Slashdot.
- p4bl0 8y agoI'm still using it as the target of my intro to compiler course.
- tbrock 8y agoDid you go to Duke?
