This is an old investing strategy summarized by Rothschild in the anecdote, "The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets." I think that maxim captures the crass greed of the strategy.

- ISL 8y agoIndeed, it puts a floor on prices in freefall. If someone needs to sell, and nobody is willing to buy, the price goes to zero.
- tedunangst 8y agoYou're supposed to say "Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful" and then you sound kind and wise like Warren Buffet.
