Just food for thought, I added in django to the trend comparison:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on+rails%22,+django http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on...
- philwelch 16y agoNot entirely useful, as "django" is an ambiguous term.
- martincmartin 16y agoAs the news reports for the spikes point out, many instances of "Django" have nothing to do with programming.
- drats 16y agoEven removing jazz and pool it still looks wrong. http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on+rails%22,+%22django%22+-jazz+-pool&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on... Adding python as a keyword probably lowers it a little too much, but at least it starts in 2005 when Django was released and is smaller than rails (I am a python fan, but I doubt django is bigger than rails). http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on+rails%22,+%22django%22+python+-jazz+-pool&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22,+%22ruby+on...
- carson 16y agoMaybe a better example would be cakephp: http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22%2C+%22ruby+on+rails%22%2C%22cakephp%22&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22%2C+%22ruby+...
- auxbuss 16y agoOr yii, a PHP framework that is RORish, but not a copy by any means: http://tinyurl.com/258zrcy http://tinyurl.com/258zrcy

- fhars 16y agoOr zope for something moderatly insightful: http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22%2C+%22ruby+on+rails%22%2C%22zope%22 http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22asp.net+mvc%22%2C+%22ruby+...
