I have a hard time believing that a reason there is no Swiss Google, or German Facebook, or Swedish Netflix, etc cetera, is because they aren't innovative enough because they aren't efficient enough. I have worked for and with some German and Scandinavian companies, and inefficiency is not a complaint that I would throw at them. Neither is lack of innovation. YMMV, I guess.
