Try championing any of this at any company. The thinking these days is if you aren’t using react and webpack and a god awful bloat that comes with it you’re not building a real application. There are so many new developers working at companies that only know react. They don’t know anything else and they certainly aren’t engineers. They have been taught one thing and the groupthink is so thick you can cut it with a knife. The problem is every react codebase I’ve ever worked on in my full time and freelance work have been an absolute mess and downright painful to work in. They don’t even fulfill on the developer promises. Can anyone even point to a successful open source project using it? I’ve literally made quite a good freelance business by targeting failed react projects and rewriting them with vanilla js.
