I think there are obvious male privilege issues in programming in general but singling out Ruby is silly. The only correlation I can see perhaps is that Ruby programmers tend to find humor or other forms of informality acceptable in presentations and that might carry over to a few more distasteful incidents like this on average but the core issue is that this article cherry-picks only one language. This article seems to have hedged its bets on motive between yet another language war and misrepresenting a broadly sweeping issue i the industry.
