Ask HN: Privacy resources for layfolk?

For the average person I meet,I have a hard time getting them to grasp why they even need privacy. Some even argue you don't need privacy,they have been brainwashed into believing the benefits of convenience and security outweigh what's lost. I sound like an absolute tinfoil hat wearing paranoid madman when I speak about things anyone can read about on a tech-news site or research paper. What resources do you know of that can help me break it down for the average joe? Where does one even start? Can you also point me to any resources for the same audience that can help them improve privacy? I wish there was one site with all these resources.
