You have to be willfully blind not to see the obvious connection between far right groups and violence. Both the US and the UK have seen dramatic increases in far right terrorist attacks and equivocating this clear, observable phenomenon with bogeymen on the left is very disingenuous. If you're actually concerned with rising extremism you'd focus on the more pressing issue which is very much not the anti-imperialists.
- notahacker 8y agoYou'd have to be wilfully blind to ignore both my opening sentence acknowledgement that the far right is on average more actively violent than the modern, Western far left and the fact that groups with an extreme agenda and the will to endorse violent action exist on the extreme left, as does a social media funnel leading from very reasonable causes to campaigns to purge people on account of imagined political allegiances linked to their ethnicity, arguments that death threats for political opponents are actually justified, solidarity with pro-violence Islamists and people who advocate extend the principle of punching perceived fascists well beyond Richard Spencer. Few things are more damaging to political discourse than thinking it's unfair or disingenuous to criticise anyone who's not as bad as the neo Nazis...
