Sure, but humans have immense ability to rationalize their own behavior. I highly doubt this is a pressure comparable to profit seeking. Furthermore, SV is a bubble, and FB is one too. Why would you think there would be pressure from outside the bubble if they only hire people who are enthusiastic about FB to begin with? The people playing golf probably share a world view from the get go.
