I think it's actually important to note that you don't even have to intend to appease your funding sources - it can happen (and I'd say most often does happen) unconsciously.
- emodendroket 8y agoYes, that's what I meant to say. The defense here tends to sound like "he wasn't deliberately skewing his research to appease his paymasters!" and it may well be true, but that doesn't mean they didn't influence the results.
