(Slightly related to the poll topic) I used to follow a technical blog and had also exchanged couple of emails with its author. Though the author of the blog does not use his real identity on HN, I was able to easily recognize the author based on the topics he comments on, his opinions on the topic and "tone" of the comments. Thus, it should be possible for an "intelligent program" to pick these weak signals across the interweb to identify the person behind it.
